城头山国家考古遗址公园主要包括遗址博物馆、旅游专线公路、遗迹展示馆、地质博物馆、护城河疏浚整治、遗址外围景观带及游步道建设、民俗文化小区等九大工程。博物馆的建设规模8000多平方米，总投资8000万元，建成后主要保护展示城头山遗址及澧阳平阳的出土文物。城头山遗址至张公庙的旅游专线公路与S304相接，全长12.065公里，工程预算总投资9796.23万元，能够连接澧县城头山、彭头山两大遗址和余家牌坊等3处全国重点文物保护单位，建设工期2年。
