由中国民用机场协会主办的“第三届中国临空经济论坛”于2012年9月5日，在广州开幕。中国民用航空局副局长夏兴华、机场司司长覃章高、中国南方航空公司党委书记谭万庚、首都机场集团公司总经理董志毅、广东省机场管理集团公司董事长吕业升等来自民航管理部门、机场企业、航空运输企业领导及地方政府、临空经济区、咨询研究等机构代表600余人出席此次论坛。在“临空经济战略定位及发展模式”的主题下，与会代表着重探讨了机场业及临空经济的现状与趋势、机场产业链及相关产业发展、临空经济区规划与商业模式构建、临空经济与空港城市发展等议题。论坛从宏观到微观，涉及临空经济产业链的重要节点，汇集了近年来临空经济专业研究成果。
