2013年1月20日，由中国地质大学（北京）登山攀岩俱乐部举办的第三届全国大学生冬训营在天池峡谷顺利开幕。来自全国18所高校将近200名学员参加了此次活动。开幕式中，中国地质大学（北京）登山攀岩俱乐部的会长温旭致开幕词，活动场所天池峡谷景区的负责人杨女士对高校的来临表示热烈的欢迎并表示将尽最大的努力为学员们提供最优质的后勤服务。

　　此次活动将持续十天，高校成员将分为两批，每一批次的训练时间维持五天，所有的活动将在天池峡谷远离城市，几乎全封闭的自然环境下进行。计划的活动内容包括冰坡行走、下降、上升、攀岩、攀冰、穿越六个项目。根据天气情况，活动内容将会有所调整，一切活动将在保证学员安全的前提下进行。活动进行的时候，各大高校的学员被打乱，分成四个小组，每组配备一个随队教练，负责安排和组织该组的所有活动，带领学员完成所有训练的项目。一天之中将同时开展所有项目，每个项目将由有丰富户外经验的前一任的学员担任教练。这样训练模式打破了高校之间的资源和技术的垄断，消除熟人扎堆的现象，更有利于登山技能的交流和提升。活动最后，每批训练营将会以攀冰比赛成果展示的形式结束冬训营。
