位于云南省迪庆藏族自治州境内的梅里雪山是地球上低纬度地区海拔最低的冰川，也是云南的旅游胜地。近年来，梅里雪山出现冰川面积减小、雪线上升现象，其中最大的明永冰川退缩明显。

　　针对梅里雪山冰川退化明显的现象，曾就冰川消融做过专题研究的云南大学资源环境与地球科学学院教授陈晓平认为，冰川退化已经是全世界面临的一个问题，包括极地冰川消融，都很难从根本上遏制这种趋势。

　　对于公众所关注的当地旅游开发和生产生活的影响，陈晓平指出，即使没有人涉足的地方，冰川也在消融。局部地区的人类活动虽有负面作用，但微乎其微。而由全球人口密度的增加、工业活动的加剧、污染排放的恶化带来的气候变暖才是冰川消融加速的症结所在。

　　陈晓平表示，虽然冰川继续消退是大家不愿意看到的，但雪山冰川消融目前还只能治标而治不了本。当地政府可以通过兴修水库、增加水塘地表水体和植被覆盖来提高雪山周边的空气湿度，同时限制过度的人类活动来减少破坏，在一定程度上缓解积雪、冰川的消融速度。

　　陈晓平介绍，作为难得的旅游资源，梅里雪山也是宝贵的生态资源。如果积雪和冰川继续消融，一方面将让梅里雪山的绮丽风光不复存在，另一方面其作为当地气候变化指向标的作用也会逐步削弱。
