我国第一座原址展示古船、古港的专题性博物馆——蓬莱古船博物馆近日建成开放。该馆位于蓬莱水城西南角，由中国建筑设计研究院设计，2008年7月开工建设，总投资1亿元，建筑面积7276平方米，其中地下面积6637平方米，展陈面积5000平方米。

　　蓬莱古船博物馆主要突出“登州古港”和“蓬莱古船”两大主题，围绕“登州海道”、“起航之港”、“循海岸水行”、北方第一大港 、“往返皆自登州”、“海防重镇”、“海漕中枢”等七个单元进行布展。展示区分五个部分：古代中国北方第一大港、中国古代造船史、蓬莱水城海底沉船、互动区和户外体验区。其中海底沉船是博物馆的核心展示内容，“北方第一大港”和“古代造船史”是出土古船的两个重要展示背景。古船馆内展出的四艘古船，分别于1984年及2005年在水城小海清淤过程中出土，数量、种类堪称国内之最，其中1984年出土的元代战船于1988年复原展示。为进一步做好2005年出土三艘明代古船的保护工作，蓬莱市文物部门聘请专家编制了古船保护方案，通过国家文物局审批，历经六年的脱水脱盐保护，并完成原址复原展示。

　　蓬莱古船博物馆在设计上注重发挥科普和教育功能，普及文物考古知识、讲解古航运文化和宣传文化遗产保护理念。在建设中注重与蓬莱水城环境相结合，着重发掘蓬莱港口文化的深厚底蕴，建筑外部形式与水城明代古军港风貌相协调，建筑外环境紧扣古港、古船主题，使古船博物馆真正融入蓬莱水城的大环境，有助于观众充分了解古船与登州的关系，登州在中国古代海上丝绸之路的作用，以及出土古船在中国造船及航海史上的地位和作用。
