世界卫生组织驻乌干达办事处代表萨维克(Joachim Saweka )11月1日在接受联合国电台记者采访时指出,乌干达出现的马尔堡出血热疫情出现了蔓延的趋势,包括首都坎帕拉在内的5个地区均发现疫情,截至目前,20个病例中有11人死亡,死亡率超过百分之五十。

　　萨维克说:“我们还不了解疫情暴发的确切程度,我们在(疫情出现的)各地区建立了联络点,以了解疫情的发展情况。我们还增强了检测和跟踪疫情的能力,以防止疫情快速蔓延。”

　　世卫组织已与乌干达邻国进行沟通,并采取措施对疫情进行监测,以防止疫情的跨境传播。但世卫组织建议,目前尚无必要对乌干达实施旅游和贸易限制。

　　马尔堡出血热是由来自引起埃博拉出血热同一科的一种病毒引起的严重高致命性疾病。目前尚无疫苗和有效治疗方法,病毒自然宿主也不确定。该病毒的人际传播需要与患者极其密切的接触。马尔堡出血热患者会出现高烧、恶心、腹泻和呕吐等症状。在致命病例中,死亡通常发生在症状出现之后8至9天,一般在此之前出现严重失血和休克。
