近日,配合工程建设，广州市文物考古研究所对东风中路S8地块进行抢救性考古发掘，揭露面积350平方米，清理汉至民国时期水井近40眼，发现大型汉代木构水渠和唐末五代时期大面积垫土等重要遗迹，出土了大量各类遗物。

　　中、西部发掘区考古发现大面积建筑垫土层，面积不少于600平方米。以山岗土填埋，平均厚度60厘米。发掘区中区垫土面上发现有两个长宽1米左右的方形磉墩，间隔约3米，另外还有一些大小不等的柱坑。从层位关系判断建筑年代在唐末五代，不晚于宋。因被晚期人类活动破坏严重，具体建筑形制不明。
