10月24日，来自中国大陆、台湾、香港、澳门公路界的160多名专家学者和科技工作者齐聚江苏苏州，参加首届两岸四地公路交通发展论坛。交通运输部副部长冯正霖，中国科协党组成员、学会学术部部长沈爱民，江苏省副省长史和平，中国公路学会理事长胡希捷出席论坛并讲话。

　　据论坛组委会介绍，本届论坛收录中国大陆和台港澳学术论文41篇，提交大会的学术报告有14场，其中台港澳学术报告8场，这些论文和报告均具有较高的学术价值和学科代表性，代表了中国大陆和台港澳目前在公路交通低碳、环保、安全领域的发展水平。论坛期间，两岸四地代表还参观考察了世界首座千米级斜拉桥——苏通长江大桥。
