5月14日，长江三峡通航管理局发布通告：三峡船闸下游引航道增设靠船墩工程于16日起开始施工，自16日11时起，三峡船闸转换运行方向，由原来的“南下北上”运行方式转换为“南上北下”的运行方式。

　　为满足航运日益增长的需求，缩短船舶进闸时间，提高通航效率，中国长江三峡集团公司携手三峡通航管理部门启动实施“增设待泊设施工程”，在原设计标准的基础上，在三峡北线船闸下游增设5个靠船墩，延长船闸导航墙长度，增加船舶待闸靠泊位置。

　　目前，三峡北线船闸下游导航墙长度为180米，而一个闸室长度为280米，船舶集泊长度为266米。此工程竣工投入使用后，北线下游导航墙长度将达到300米，可以满足一个满闸室船舶待闸靠泊的需要，缩短进闸时间，提高运行效率。
