12月25日下午，交通运输部部长杨传堂在京亲切会见了西藏自治区日喀则地区岗巴公路段养路工人（如图）。

　　杨传堂说，一代代西藏养路工人在严寒缺氧的高原上，顽强拼搏，艰苦奋斗，无私奉献，保障了公路的安全畅通，创造了“人在路上，路在心上；养路为业，道班为家；艰苦创业，无私奉献；甘当路石，奉献终身”的“西藏养路工人精神”。杨传堂向他们表示慰问和感谢。他希望养路工人努力学习公路建设养护新技术，把西藏的路修得更好、养得更好。杨传堂还仔细询问了养路工人的收入、子女教育等情况，并向他们赠送了过冬衣服。
