依据2010年人口普查北京市常住人口各年龄段儿童统计、市人口计生委关于近6年在京出生新生儿统计以及各区县“十二五”规划对入学儿童的预测，经综合分析，到2014年，预计北京市小学入学适龄儿童将由2011年的13万人左右增加到18万人左右，小学在校生总量将由68万人左右增加到84万人左右，之后连续几年仍将呈持续增长趋势。
