就在前一天晚上，南京理工大学设计艺术与传媒学院的一楼灯火通明，9组设计团队的学生们忙着赶制产品模型，不亦乐乎。同时，远在大洋彼岸的美国，也有一群同龄人共同忙碌着。

　　中西创意对对碰。从多队的中美双方设计方案来对比，不难发现美国学生的方案多偏向科技感、功能性更明显的产品，比如灯具和IPAD保护套就多次出现在他们的方案中。而中方多以手工艺品为主。在前一天晚上的中方设计现场，第五团队的同学们正在精加工一个葫芦灯具，以葫芦为原材料，造型独特但不乏美感。该队一位大三的李同学指着身后贴了好多便签条的规划板说，最初头脑风暴的时候，美国学生就觉得中国学生的方案偏装饰意味，比如地毯、小摆饰等，会不利于后期销售。而中国学生觉得美国学生的方案制作工艺要求偏高，不符合尼泊尔、海地当地的生产条件。他坦言：“中国和美国两个设计小分组合成一个大家庭，双方在合作沟通过程中有思维的碰撞、有语言的障碍、有意见的分歧，但都被一一克服了。”最终双方经过沟通，将对方的建议合理运用到自己的方案中，走了一条形式与功能相结合的道路来完成模型制作。美国学生的灯具方案被中国学生用当地易取材的葫芦来演绎，而中国学生的编制菜篮也被美国学生选为实现方案来制作成品，双方从分歧走向了共鸣。

　　在这48小时的奋战中，两国学生通过网络交流，沟通设计思想，完成设计定位和相应的工作任务，最终取得了可喜的成绩。一直在旁指导的设计艺术系主任段齐骏老师说：“我始终觉得，过程比结果更重要。这次活动相当于是最低成本的‘出国’交流。以前我们一直认为中国学生的创新意识不足，但是在这次活动过程中发现，其实我们的学生在创新能力上并不见得弱多少，就看你怎么去启发他。我看到我们很多学生的方案非常好的点子，但是在表现力上还是不到位，这个训练还不够，需要在以后的教学中改进。”(黄李华)
