　　李鸿策今年40岁，说起他为何下这么大决心帮助贫困学子时，他说，小时候家里很穷，没钱供他读书，从小学开始，他便自己去捡破烂赚钱交学费。

　　“现在每次经过大学，都想进去看看，每次经过书店，都要进去闻闻书香的味道。平生最遗憾的就是自己没能读完高中，没能上大学。进入社会后，深深感受到上学读书学知识的重要性。”他说。“就是因为我从小到大上学都很不容易，所以我才格外理解贫困学子渴望学习的心情，因此，我最大的心愿就是让贫困家庭学子都能上学。”李鸿策向记者坦言。

　　高中辍学后，从打工到自己创业，现在开了一家李记镇海渔港海鲜店。从2007年起，他便决定以个人名义捐款100万元，计划10年内每年拿出10万元帮助贫困学子。而从2010年开始，他将每年捐款的金额提高到了24万元。
