一项最新研究发现，2011届教育类本科毕业生半年后42%选择了教师职业。对部分高校的深入研究发现，在放弃从教且从事与专业无关工作的教育类本科毕业生中，37%因为“专业工作不符合自己的职业期待”，另有34%的人因为“专业工作岗位招聘少”。

　　调查发现，教育类本科毕业生从事教师职业的近六成在地级城市及以下（58%）工作，明显高于不从事教师职业的教育类毕业生（47%）。所以，选择教师职业也许有城市因素的影响。另外，2011届教育类本科毕业生从事教师职业的半年后月收入为2617元，略低于从事非教师职业（2734元）。从薪资看来，从事教师职业的教育类本科毕业生待遇看似并不十分理想。但麦可思研究发现，2011届该群体的就业满意度（55%）却高于从事非教师职业的教育类本科毕业生（47%），也高于全国本科毕业生平均水平（50%）。此外，麦可思大学毕业生三年后跟踪调查研究发现，2008届毕业半年后从事教师职业的教育类本科毕业生中，三年后仍然坚守教师岗位的比例为91%。教师职业较为稳定，加上寒暑假等特殊福利待遇，可能是让一部分从业者难以割舍的原因；另外也许有一些怀揣教育梦想的人，即便当下境况不尽如人意，也会为了理想坚持下去。
