新西兰移民局北京办事处相关负责人日前在接受媒体采访时透露，截至2012年10月31日，共有299名申请前往新西兰留学的中国学生被确认存在留学申请材料造假的情况，其中219名学生目前已在新西兰当地就学。自2012年7月11日以来，已有26名在新西兰当地的中国留学生因申请留学材料造假而被遣返回中国。
