　　为给八一路下穿通道让路，武汉大学上月9日拆除主校门前的标志性建筑物牌坊。根据规划，社会车辆全部走地下，武大连通文理学部和信息学部，地面的人文广场将成为武大的“新脸”。

　　方案特别强调：“校门规划也必须尊重百年传统历史遗留文物所沉淀的千万校友、学子的历史记忆和近代以来历次复建时期捐建校友的感情。”负责方案征集的武大基建部相关负责人介绍，除大众关注的外观是否“好看”，景观设计专家还须权衡许多现实因素，包括二环线、八一路下穿通道抬升，局部最高点比原始地面标高抬升高达1.5米，还有植被的留存与保护、校园周边高层建筑对广场是否造成空间压迫感、规划是否为后世需求留出空间等。

　　武大早期建筑的思想是“轴线对称、主从有序、中央殿堂、四隅崇楼”。轴线对称是第一位的，据说这条主轴线由李四光亲自勘定。此方案由于技术限制，无法使两校区间的交通通行“自成一统”，从珞珈山路通行的社会车辆需要城市交通管理的介入。
