10月11日下午，湖南大学对外宣布，2013年自主选拔录取改革措施重大调整：面向八个基础学科专业，“优”中选“特”，实行科学培养。预计自主招生计划250个左右。和往年获得自主招生资格只享20分录取优惠不同，2013年获得自主选拔录取资格的考生，分A、B两种形式进行录取。A类要求高考投档成绩达到该校生源地本科一批录取控制分数线；B类是指面试过程中表现特别优秀和对社会作出特殊贡献的考生，特别是复员退伍军人、见义勇为、道德模范等，可以降至一本线以下，但需报教育部批准执行。往年湖大在大多数省份分数线超一本线在50分左右。
