说到爬树，许多人或许会联想到儿时上树摘果子、掏鸟窝等情景。而事实上，厦门大学开设的攀树运动课与此完全是两回事。“爬树运动是一项惊险刺激的户外运动项目，以攀爬巨树为乐。”攀树运动课授课教师骆腾昆告诉记者，这项运动上世纪80年代起源于美国，现在，在美国至少有1000个学校开设爬树课程，练习如何借助于绳子、各种扣子等一整套工具爬树，完成上升、下移、旋转等动作，最终达到在大树间自由穿梭的目的，“并不是简单的徒手爬树玩乐，形式和攀岩运动较为相近。”
