论坛围绕国学学科建设、国学专门人才培养的模式、国学教育制度化与规范化设计、国学教育国际性提升、国学教材建设与课程规划、国学的社会普及与大众传播等问题展开了讨论。中国人民大学国学院院长纪宝成、著名红学家冯其庸及其他著名大学的国学院相关负责人就国学教育的历史、现状、基本规律、实现途径等进行了回顾与总结，对国学教育的未来发展提出了许多见解。来自清华大学、武汉大学、复旦大学等近20所高校的国学院（国学研究院）或相关机构的负责人及人大师生近200人参与论坛。
