莫言获得诺贝尔文学奖的当晚，中国作家协会立即发表贺辞，并对中国作家提出期许：“莫言的获奖，表明国际文坛对中国当代文学及作家的深切关注，表明中国文学所具有的世界意义。希望中国作家继续勤奋笔耕，奉献更多精品力作，为人类的文化发展作出新的贡献！”

　　“讲故事”是文学特别是小说的内核和基础，有人说所谓“文学影响力”从某种意义上指的是讲故事的能力。以文学叙述故事，能让读者自然而然地进入一种情绪的、精神的或美学的状态，可以瞬间产生审美愉悦，更容易获得心理上的亲近和精神上的尊重、支持与信任，从而更好地达到传播文化的目的。莫言认真、负责、真实地准确叙述了中国故事，他把自己的家乡高密东北乡写成中国社会的一个缩影。家乡的三贤四宝，泥塑、剪纸、年画等民间艺术，构成他作品的文化元素，也影响了并决定了他作品的艺术功能。
