作为一名志愿者，自2007年初进社区讲授四大名著、唐诗宋词至今，北京西城经济科学大学副教授张亚宁已为普通百姓免费授课两千课时。亲朋好友都说，他设立了一个“草根百家讲坛”。

　　张亚宁今年57岁，1982年毕业于北京大学中文系。在西城经济科学大学任教至副教授，他曾多次被评为北京市中青年骨干教师、市级优秀教师。2007年的一天，张亚宁无意中听到一位老人遗憾地说自己很喜欢文学却大半辈子没机会学习，独居在家无聊地消磨时光。他心想，自己热爱古典文学，专业是中文，且坚持了30多年的学习和研究，自信学有专攻，若能为普通百姓讲课，既可自选课题发挥所长，又可将象牙塔内的文学送到百姓身边，岂不两全其美。主意打定，张亚宁开始同学校所在附近的居民接触，了解到不少人都有聆听学习的愿望，于是他决定开讲。
