　　由于中学生年龄较小，蔡伟章建议，这些学生在赴加留学前应该与家长提前做好几点准备：首先是要先摆正心态，多了解当地文化；其次是要做好吃苦的准备，对于中国学生而言，他们的母语不是英语语系，在学校学得再好，到了加拿大还是需要一个较长的适应期，需要在学校接受老师帮助；最后，家长也要做好让孩子吃苦的准备。“我在学校负责与国际学生和家长交流，发现问题大多来自家长曾经有家长向我投诉，说孩子一周都吃不上米饭！可是，在加拿大，当地人本来就很少吃米饭，一周不吃米饭是再正常不过的事情。”他认为，在国外，家长应该放手让孩子适应当地的风俗习惯，也要接受孩子有可能产生的不适应感。
