复旦大学教务处副处长、本科生院副院长王颖介绍，“一人课程”在复旦一般是开设在理科院系，“可能这个课程研究相对较窄，但是偏偏在学生当中有人对此感兴趣”。王颖说，“一人课程”的好处在于上课比较灵活，不用占用很大的教室空间。
