　　武术世家出身的赵建军一直希望把他的“老本行”和体育教学融为一体。他发现，现行的武术教材中，缺少武术技击的教学内容和行之有效的武术技击教学模式，这也正是困扰校园武术发展的重要原因。因此，他带领体育教师进行的“小学武术教学内容的实践研究”课题得到了县科研室的支持。在北京教育学院陈雁飞院长的指导下，赵建军的团队依据不同年龄阶段学生的身心发育特点，以及不同形式的武术技击原理，采取循序渐进的原则创编了《密云县南菜园小学武术校本教材》。校本教材内容涉及小学高、中、低三个级别，分为游戏对练、拳术对练、器械对练，为不同年级的学生创编不同的对练组合动作，要求课间操全员参与武术操练习。

　　2007年3月，赵老师开始扩大武术教育的舞台，创编武术操，让学生的课间操更加多元化。他与老师们进行反复设计、排练，创编出《中国功夫》武术操。这套操共分12个小节，每节八九个武术动作，并以歌曲《中国功夫》为配乐。武术操一经推出，就得到了学生们的追捧。于是，赵老师趁热打铁，在2007年9月，又推出了一套轻柔徐缓的《八式太极》操。这套操以云手、揽雀尾、十字手等八个典型太极动作为主要内容，左右对称反复练习。“可能是节奏比较舒缓，这套太极操刚推行时，学生反响没有武术操那么强烈。但孩子们上手之后，就会欲罢不能”。

　　赵老师介绍说，这种跑法是用音乐控制速度，本着从走、慢跑、快跑、慢跑再到走的渐进性原则，符合学生生理机能。整个大课间跑步从入场、到跑步、再到退场，就是在一场完整的音乐旋律中完成的。赵老师说，这种方式受到了学生欢迎。
