　　影响：“咏春拳王”梁赞高足陈华顺的关门弟子，以一人之力，把咏春拳推广到世界各地，故被门人推举为“一代宗师”。但他最为名扬海外还是在于晚年收了一个比他更出名的关门弟子李小龙。

　　佛山桑园叶族人，被入选世界纪录协会，称为世界咏春拳第一人。七岁时，便拜师入陈华顺门下(陈华顺，为南海拳王，有“咏春拳王”之称的梁赞之得意弟子，入门前以钱银找换业为生，人称之为找钱华)，并成为其关门弟子。华公逝世后，叶问再随师兄吴仲素钻研拳技。叶问十六岁那年，赴港求学外文，就读于圣士提反学校。有一传闻说：叶问开始觉得艺成而心不向武，其师叔梁壁寻上门去，要求与他比武，无论叶问如何进攻都被梁壁一一化解，遂被折服，后返回佛山跟随梁壁继续学习咏春拳。

　　正如热映的《叶问》一片所展示，抗战期间，叶问的过人功夫被日本宪兵队闻悉，欲邀请担任宪兵队的中国武术指导被拒之后，指派技击高手与叶问比武，言明若叶问被打败则听命差使，叶问在无法拒绝的情况下，只好接受比武，来者却是身材高壮，拳重脚粗，叶问摆出咏春桩手，二字钳羊马，目视对方，却一言不发，诱待兵来将挡，对方抢先出手，以箭标马进迫，叶问即变前锋的桩手为耕手，耕去对方箭，并同时转身跪马，拿正对方前腿之后膝位，迫使对方突然失去重心，对方虽未中招，却是败相毕露，叶问也及时收马，一声承让，跳出比武画地，真是高手过招，点到为止。事后，叶问在众人的掩护下逃走，而这场比武由于时间极短，被人戏称为“不到一分钟”。比武后的叶问，担心激怒日本军阀，暂离佛山，后因政治原因脱离大陆，于1949年冬再次来到香港正式开馆授武。
