陈墨是西北工业大学飞行器制造工程专业大三学生，从小就有极强的动手能力，为了完成这个儿时的梦想，从2011年8月起，陈墨就开始着手制造这款JDT mini-Max轻型飞机。陈墨在机械制造方面是有极高的天赋，曾经自学过《电工手册》。所以他就用自己平时修电器、打工积攒的钱以及奖学金，连同借来的总共大约10万元钱购买了图纸材料。这一年多来，陈墨除了正常上课，就是根据资料做飞机。

　　12月26日，在西安南三环外一条还没有开通的公路上，国内第一个成功试飞过JDT mini-Max飞机的杨伟民坐进了驾驶舱，由他来帮助陈墨进行首次试飞。伴随着发动机巨大的轰鸣声，飞机在公路上滑跑了两圈之后终于腾空而起，在天上绕了一大圈然后回到跑道，缓慢的降落，最后稳稳的停下了，整个试飞取得了成功。
