《咬文嚼字》主办方认为，网络语言错误较多，主要有三个原因。第一，网络没有差错“过滤”功能，缺乏传统出版物所具有的编辑、校对环节。第二，网络写作缺乏“准入门槛”，只要自己愿意，谁都可以在网络上“写文章”，许多人缺乏基本的语文运用能力，历史文化知识更是贫匮。第三，网络写手对语言文字缺乏敬畏之心。
