“新年最大的愿望是，山区的教学点不要被撤并，同时山区学生的伙食不再是咸菜萝卜干，希望孩子们能吃上蔬菜和鲜肉。”大年初四，花白头发的退休教师古槐基告诉羊城晚报记者。

　　梅坪是惠东县安墩镇水美村最偏远的一个自然村，与河源市紫金县接壤，古槐基1952年出生在这个村。四面环山的梅坪5年前才通上电，有一条约6公里长的盘山路通往外界。梅坪教学点背靠海拔1186米的乌禽嶂，教学点前是一大片水田。教学点始建于1957年。因地处偏远，环境恶劣，教师来一个走一个，孩子们无法正常上课。

　　1970年，18岁的古槐基高中毕业后应征入伍。1975年，从部队复员回乡的他成了村里文化程度最高的人，随后当起了梅坪教学点的教师。这个教学点距离村小学有6公里，由于山路不好走，梅坪1-3年级的小孩都在教学点就读。

　　教学点上学的孩子不多，目前只有2名学生，鼎盛的时候学生有20多个。平均下来每年6至7个学生。37年时间里，教学点唯一的教师古槐基担任了语文、数学、思想品德、音乐、体育等所有课程的教学任务，给这些孩子上1至3年级的课，课程排得满满的。

　　1998年，古槐基的妻子和儿女离开梅坪，搬到惠东县城边的达令镇居住。面对家人催促，古槐基写了调任申请。时任安墩镇教委会办公室主任的张志辉骑了大半天的自行车来到梅坪，挽留古槐基。
