原来的师大二附中其实是101以前的名字，1949年5月华北育才中学与北平师范大学附属中学合并，成为师大附中二部。1952年8月与华北中学合并，1953年9月更名为北师大二附中，1955年定名为“北京市101中学”。现在的师大二附1953年建校，校名为“北京市四十六中”。1954年 新校舍落成，位于新外大街12号 1960年正式更名为北京师范大学第二附属中学。101放弃的金子招牌名字，四十六中捡漏后立即办的有声有色。
