28日上午，中南大学13000多名新生集聚，参加2012级新生开学典礼暨军训阅兵。校长张尧学笑称自己忘带稿子了，只是想说说心里话。他用聊天的方式和新生交流，用朴实的话语鼓励大家开启全新的大学生活。

　　“你们进入大学要学知识，要提高能力。就像一个人要穿过原始森林，重要的不仅是给他一袋干粮，更应给他一支猎枪。”张尧学引用这句话，引导同学们学会活用知识才有力量。“有人说知识是力量，这是片面的，图书馆有很多知识，但是如果你不会使用它，没有掌握它，它就不能变为生产力。所以我们在大学里要学会使用知识，掌握知识。”张尧学用形象的比喻阐述如何进行大学学习。
