　　据了解，这篇《草木虫鱼》部分节选来自莫言散文集《我的高密》一书，是刘宁专门挑出来给孩子们阅读的文章。六（3）班的学生都是第一次拿到这篇文章，只见他们四人围坐成一组，认真读了起来。读完文章，刘宁鼓励大家谈谈自己的看法。有学生直言不讳地表示：莫言“太爱吃了”！“因为很多我们看来根本不能吃的东西，比如蚂蚱、蟋蟀等，竟也被当作‘美味’吃得津津有味，好恶心。”

　　莫言获得诺贝尔文学奖的消息在小学生中也引起不少反响，甚至有一些小学生也纷纷闹着要读莫言。“我们班几个学生都问我能不能在语文课上也给他们讲讲莫言？”刘宁告诉记者，孩子们的要求一下子引起了她的思考：怎样能让小学生也能了解一点莫言的作品？带着这样的思考，刘宁开始了准备。刘宁把莫言全集全部搬回了家，苦读了一个月，才基本读完。经过反复斟酌，刘宁最后节选了莫言散文集《我的高密》里《草木虫鱼》这篇文章给孩子们上课。
