记者从商务部获悉，商务部副部长王超在2012年金砖国家贸易救济国际研讨会上表示，金砖国家拥有全球30%的领土面积和42%的人口。金砖国家作为新兴经济体和发展中国家，已经成为拉动世界经济贸易发展的重要引擎，并发挥着越来越重要的作用。金砖国家间经贸关系也在快速发展，2011年金砖国家间贸易已经超过3000亿美元，10年来增长约6倍。

　　王超表示，2011年中国与其他金砖国家（巴西、俄罗斯、印度、南非）的双边贸易总额达2828亿美元，同比增长37.6%，占同期中国进出口总额的7.7%。
