农业部种子管理局马淑萍副局长1月28日在新闻发布会上回答记者提问时透露，初步统计，中国目前每年大约进口种子15000多吨左右，主要是蔬菜种子，还有部分向日葵和甜菜种子。

　　马淑萍称，目前国外种子在国内市场份额比较大的品种是甜菜和食葵，另外还有西红柿、长茄子、彩椒等，加上一些叶菜类和萝卜等。其中外国种子在食葵市场的份额较大，大约有50-60%，西红柿不到10%，辣椒大约占到15%以上。不过这些农产品的种植面积绝对值都不算大，像食葵的面积大约是800多万亩，其中的400多万亩是国外品种。
