　　陈德霖表示，过去10年阿联酋与中国的贸易额增长超过10倍，由2001年不足30亿美元增至2011年的370亿美元。中国是阿联酋的第二大非石油贸易夥伴，亦是阿联酋的第二大进口来源。在双边交易中更多使用人民币，将能进一步促进中国和中东地区之间贸易及投资联系，从而达至互惠双赢。此外，随着人民币国际化的程度增加，迅速扩大的离岸人民币市场以及更多连接在岸人民币市场的渠道，将为中东地区公营和私营的资产管理机构带来投资多元化和提升的新机遇。

　　陈德霖亦表示，去年经由香港银行办理的人民币贸易结算交易增长约3成，至超过2.6万亿元人民币。人民币融资活动亦有所增加，人民币点心债券市场的规模扩大了6成，至2300亿元人民币。此外，香港的人民币即时支付结算系统处理的跨境及离岸交易亦持续增长，平均每日成交量由2010年的50亿元人民币，上升至最近的2600亿元人民币。
