9月23日消息，泰国商业部外贸厅副厅长提堪蓬表示，厅方将组建选址小组按照泰国与邻国间的边境贸易思路，调查并研究建立大米贸易区(Rice Trade Zone)的可行性。目前进行调查的地区包括武里喃府、沙缴府、尖竹汶府和达叻府。2012年8月泰国已作为主办方召开会议，内容包括建立东盟大米市场合作机制和行动方案，并研究在柬埔寨建立大米重点种植地以及泰国与柬埔寨及越南间的大米运输路线。

　　提堪蓬提到，合作方案如下，泰国帮助邻国提高大米生产效率及建立大米市场，并帮助运营商、碾米厂和出口商提升业务操作能力。目前处于研究选址和相关资料阶段，包括分析在上述调查地区建立大米贸易区将带来的影响，研究结果将呈至商业部长审议。
