最近几年，国内总是不时掀起有关转基因农产品“阴谋论”和“威胁论”的探讨。3月7日，全国政协委员、中央农村工作领导小组副组长陈锡文在回答记者提问时表示，中国最近这些年来一直在进口转基因的农产品，中国也是世界上种植转基因农产品规模比较大的国家，但主要是大在棉花上。

　　陈锡文说，中国进口的转基因农产品，主要集中在大豆上。“去年我们进口了5838万吨的大豆，其中绝大部分都是转基因的大豆，它主要来自于美国、巴西和阿根廷。进口大豆最主要是两个用途，一是榨油，就是我们吃的大豆油和调和油中都有一部分是大豆榨出来的油。榨油之后的饼粕，是养殖业中饲料的最重要的蛋白质植物蛋白的来源。”陈锡文说，“现在谁也拿不出足够的证据说它绝对安全或者绝对不安全，所以应当通过实践来证明它的安全性。至少到目前我还没有听到过谁由于食用了转基因农产品出现了安全问题，这样的事实还没有过。”

　　据陈锡文介绍，目前我国大豆的年产量大约是1300万吨到1400万吨，但是我国对大豆的年需求量超过了7000万吨，仅大豆这一项来说以后还必须进口。“所以说在相当一段时间内，中国进口一定的转基因的农产品不可避免。”
